Shawna Allman, PA-C (NCCPA)
As a component of her undergraduate studies while majoring in Exercise Science at Appalachian State University, Shawna Allman was selected to participate in a challenging internship with Ashe Family Healthcare. This internship evolved into a full-time position working as a Medical Assistant. Over the next five years she discovered her passion for rural family medicine and made the decision to become a Physician Assistant. She gained acceptance into the prestigious and challenging graduate program of Shenandoah University, one of the few programs in the United States that focuses on meeting the need of better preparing tomorrow’s rural healthcare provider. In 2022 she successfully completed her master’s degree at the top of her class. She did not hesitate to return to the community which had both inspired her and supported her on her journey.
Shawna returned to Ashe Family Healthcare as a Board-Certified Physician Assistant in 2023 and continues to demonstrate her passion for serving the community, embracing her desire to facilitate change, and continuing to focus on ways to optimize the health of the patients under her care. She is equipped with the knowledge and skill to complete comprehensive health screens, sports physicals, male and female wellness examinations and to address mental health, weight management, acute and chronic medical issues, laceration repair, minor injuries, hormone management, and much more. Shawna uses both in-person and telemedicine modalities to provide care to her patients.
